With all the snow we had in the month of February, many people were
looking forward to March with the hope that winter would soon be over.
That is, unless one loves the snow, then their hope is that March would
bring even more snow.
Hope is an important component for our human life and existence.
Without hope, people will give up – regardless of the circumstances and
situation.
Jesus is our source of, and basis for, hope as Christians. As we
continue to ponder His Passion during this Lenten season, Jesus
provides us with the sure and certain hope that our sins have already
been paid for and atoned for by His sacrificial death on the cross in our
behalf and stead. As St. Paul reasons, if God loves us this much – to
have His innocent Son Jesus die in our place and stead, then Jesus
gives us the sure and certain hope that “nothing in all of creation will
ever be able to separate us from the love of God.” The writer of
Hebrews reminds us that because Jesus has been tempted and tested
just as we are – except without ever sinning, we now have the sure and
certain hope that when we are tempted and tested we can draw near to
Jesus “to find grace, mercy and help in our time of need.”
As we move through the Lenten season during the month of March, we
do so with the sure and certain hope that Easter and Jesus’ triumphant
and victorious resurrection will greet us at the end. Because of Christ’s
resurrection, Peter tells us that we now have “a living hope.”
If you are looking for hope in your life, we invite you to experience and
live in, with us here at Grace, the sure and certain hope that Jesus
provides. We worship on Sunday mornings at 8 and 10:30, with the
latter service interpreted for the Deaf. During Lent we also worship on
Wednesday evenings at 7:30. These services are also interpreted for
the Deaf. They are preceded by soup suppers at 6 and followed by
refreshments. Various Bible studies are offered at varying times. Check
our calendar and newsletter for specifics.
